Series Review: Black Mirror (2011 – )

For those late to the Black Mirror bandwagon, myself included smh, I highly recommend this British series that examines our relationship with technology and our humanity in general. I love that each episode is stand alone so you don’t have to watch in any particular order and there are a lot of familiar faces amongst the cast (Michaela Coel, Daniel Kaluuya, Rory Kenner, Hayley Atwell, Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard, Alex Lawther, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wyatt Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jodie Whittaker, Rafe Spall, Madeline Brewer, Jerome Flynn, Benedict Wong and Letitia Wright amongst many others).

Some episodes are definitely crazier than others…I tried watching this series once before but I started with Season One, Episode One “The National Anthem” and it was not my cup of tea…but I decided to give it a go again last year to my delight. My two favorites are “Be Right Back” (featuring my fave Mr. Domhnall Gleeson again…this one made me a little teary-eyed and definitely makes you think about the limits we would go to) and “Hang the DJ” (which introduced me to Joe Cole…definitely interested in seeing more of his work…Peaky Blinders anyone? And Georgina Campbell was great too!)

This series will really get you thinking and has led to some pretty thought-provoking conversations with friends…I highly recommend! (Currently streaming on Netflix)
