What the f**k did I just watch?! Maybe this is one of those intellectual, left-brained allegories I’m just not smart enough to comprehend??? It was written and directed by Darren Aronofsky who is no stranger to “out-there” films (Pi, Requiem For a Dream, and Black Swan…always trippy, but I liked all three of these). Starring some pretty heavy hitters (Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris). One of my favorite actors at the moment, Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina and The Revenant) was even in this and I didn’t even realize it because I was so dumbfounded by the plot and the decisions the characters were making SMH. I thought about trying to rematch just for him, but I just can’t. Fun fact though, Domhnall’s younger brother in the film is played by his actual younger brother, Brian. Someone please explain this to me in laymen’s terms because I feel like I’ve just wasted two hours of my life. Currently available on Hulu, please proceed with caution!
