I had been wanting to see this ever since it came out and I finally got the chance to (I know I’m late SMH). My local movie theatre recent had a re-showing so it was awesome to see it on the big screen. A mix of fantasy and reality, this movie was beautifully shot and very well-acted. Guillermo del Toro definitely draws you into this world and makes you really care about the main characters, especially the little bookish Ofelia (Ivana Baquero). Taking place in Spain in 1944, a young girl escapes into an eerie and intriguing fantasy world to avoid the abuse of her stepfather. The makeup, costume design, dialogue, production design…everything was amazing! This movie really lets you get lost in it. Currently streaming on Starz.
