Logan Lucky (2017)

This one had been on my watch list for a while and I finally got around to watching it…and I really enjoyed it! Directed by Steven Soderbergh (who also directed the Ocean’s Eleven series, Traffic, Erin Brockovich, and Sex, Lies and Videotape amongst others) Logan Lucky tells the story of two brothers, Jimmy and Clyde Logan, who pull off a heist at a NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the help of an “escaped” convict and others. Part drama, part comedy, part action/heist, this film was the perfect mix with a stellar cast.

The two brothers, played by Channing Tatum (his 4th collaboration with director Soderbergh) and Adam Driver were great, but I think con Joe Bang, played by Daniel Craig, stole the show. I’m so used to seeing him as the cool, collected, debonair “Bond” and this was quite the departure from that. Seth McFarlane (always hilarious) and Sebastian Stan (one of my favorites) also made cameos (along with several NASCAR drivers) in here as well as Hilary Swank (who’s character was weird and irked me intensely).

Overall, the editing, the acting and the comedic timing were great making this a fun, easy watch…definitely recommend this one! Currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
