This one had been on my watch list for a while…

It’s a cute story about being true and authentic to yourself and chasing your dreams no matter what others think. The title character was wonderfully acted by a young Jamie Bell (who I love in Turn) whose own story parallels that of Billy’s, coming from a family of dancers. This is a great mix of drama and humor that was expertly written. The supporting cast was great, especially Julie Walters (Mamma Mia! and Harry Potter movies) who plays Billy’s dance teacher. Overall, this one is well done and I recommend this heartfelt, inspiring film! Currently streaming on Netflix.

What does it feel like when you’re dancing?

Don’t know. Sorta feels good. Sorta stiff and that, but once I get going…then I like, forget everything. And…sorta disappear. Sorta disappear. Like I feel a change in my whole body. And I’ve got this fire in my body. I’m just here. Flyin’ like a bird. Like electricity. Yeah, like electricity.
