I hate to start on a down note, but now is better than never…
The Godfather of comics and all-around cool guy Stan Lee passed away last week at the age of 95. On my list of “all-time forever cool guys”, it goes Quincy Jones, then Stan Lee coming in at strong second.
Growing up, I wasn’t huge into comics, but I didn’t live under a rock either so I was familiar with the big ones — Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the The Hulk (from their respective tv shows). But once Marvel/Disney hit their stride with their movie franchises starting in the early 2000’s, I was hooked. Iron Man, The Avengers, Thor, Captain America, Black Panther, Spider Man, X-Men, Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Ant Man (although some are better than others)…Marvel could do no wrong in my book! (And don’t get me started on the streaming series — Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, The Defenders…we’ll save that for another day!)
It was always fun playing “Where’s Stan” in the movies, just like I always got a little kick out of trying to find Alfred Hitchcock in his classic films. Those who know me well, know that I “stan” for Marvel and Stan represented everything Marvel stood for…Stan the Man will forever be missed and every Marvel film to come will be missing a little something…the cameo.
Sidenote: This blog will serve as an outlet for me to share all my thoughts and opinions on movies (with a little TV talk sprinkled in), entertainment business & news in general as well as a pinch of entertainment law (I’m an attorney after all). I will warn you…this will be written in the way that my brain thinks it…and it will be all over the place lol. I apologize in advance! So I hope I won’t bore you too much with my musings. I also record a movie review podcast with my sister called “Nah, Sis” that I’ll be posting here too…I hope you’ll check it out and enjoy! And if you have any movie recommendations, please share!
