The Hateful Eight (2015)

The man who pulls the lever that breaks your neck will be a dispassionate man. And that dispassion is the very essence of justice. For justice delivered without dispassion is always in danger of not being justice.

In true Tarantino fashion, one too many uses of the N-word, but otherwise a really well-done, star-studded and enjoyable movie. One of my top 3 Tarantino films. Great dialogue and writing, as usual, with great, fun characters. As usual, this movie was superbly cast and well acted by everyone…especially Jennifer Jason Leigh and Kurt Russell (is he getting better with age? I think so…).

I love Tarantino’s movies because you can easily get lost in the world on the screen and it seems like all of the actors are truly enjoying what they are doing. The majority of the film takes place in a cabin/lodge and is visually well-done. The cinematography was amazing…per the usual. The gore is definitely there (one of his trademarks) but the banter amongst the characters kind of makes the movie. If you’re a fan of Tarantino’s signature style, this is a must watch. Currently streaming on Netflix.

Gentlemen, I know Americans aren’t apt to let a little thing like unconditional surrender get in the way of a good war…
